The Last Great Snake

What do you think is "the chain" that binds Medana to Kotil?

  1. I think the "chain" is a magical spell that she used so he cant go certin distance away from her. Kinda like an electric fence for a dog.

  2. I think "the chain" is a magical spell that does not allow Medana to leave Kotil by dying until she cures him of his mind of evil. That's why Kotil is very old and Medana seems almost "ageless". This reminds me of Tuck Everlasting.

  3. I agree with both of you I belive Medana can't leave Kotil because she cast a spell on him. The Last Great Snake seems to be placed in the ancient past in a magical land

  4. Is the chain real - or inside her thoughts. Perhaps it is a metaphor!

  5. I agree with everyone. She must have performed a magic spell. She also performs the ritual every night. It must have something to do with it.

  6. I also agree with everyone's answer. Kotil had to have set a spell on Medana. If that little boy wasn't on a chain he would cause a ton of trouble. The magical chain must be pretty long for Medana to travel all the way to the North hills.

  7. I believe that the chain is real. I believe this because the story is fiction and Ulukini is magical so Kotil could also be. You never know.

  8. I think that the chain is maybe an attraction to keep Medana away from the good. As a fish is drawn to corn, maybe Medana is drawn to something Kotil has wore, or something in her body.
