Do you think there was any value to the work program at Camp Green Lake?

  1. I do not think that there is any value to the work program at all. They don't do any theropy or anything that would help them. Clearly, these boys need help. They may not be bad kids, but they have gotten into some trouble. They might have anger issues or other problems, and digging holes is not the solution.

  2. I do think there is value in digging random holes at Camp Green Lake because maybe the harshness of the rules may teach the kids to be respectful and do good deeds. Otherwise, it's just a waste of precious time and energy. In the book, any of the campers were to take a day off if they found something interesting while diging and show it to the warden. Stanley admits that there is barely anything at all here in a dry lake. If I worked at Camp Green Lake, I would make them plant seeds and water the seeds in orderx to restore life back into the "desert of death".

  3. I actually think that Camp Green Lake has value in a way but in other ways it has no value at all. I agree with Riley that it is a waste of precious time and energy. But in other ways like teaching kids that have gotten into some trouble to do good things and to be respectful and humble of the little things they have at Camp Green Lake.

P.S. Riley that is a good idea: if you worked at Camp Green Lake you would plant seeds and teach them to restore life into the dry desert, but also a new life back into themselves by the time they leave

  4. I do not think that digging the holes has any value at all. Why dig holes when you can as Riley said plant plants or do service projects elsewhere. In the book I think the Warden might be looking for something when if you find something the Warden finds interesting you get a day off, maybe that something has value in cash?

  5. I have already seen the movie so I kind of know whats going to happen. But if I hadn't I would guess that either the Warden was looking for something or Mr. Sir is hidding something.

  6. I think there as value to the work program because the warden as looking for something out in the desert. Otherwise there is no sense to what she is making those boys do. Digging holes is a good punishment, but why that? there must be something there!

  7. I think that there is value to the work that the warden makes the boys do. I agree with Kiana that the warden must be looking for something lost. This is also a very good punishment for criminals and it might make them think about what they have done. It might make them take better choices in the future.

  8. I don't think that there is any value of digging holes. Yes, they are troubled kids, but digging holes does not help. They should need counceling or therapy like THE BEAST said, but digging holes does not help them with their needs.
