Why do you tink Tuck's mother is so overprotective?

  1. I think Winnie's mother is so protective because maybe something happened to her when she was a child. Also, some parents are just like that. Clearly Winnie dosen't like it.

  2. I agree with THE BEAST. She could've gotten lost in the woods and that is why there is a four ft. fence. The mother could have also had a child before Winnie and that child could have been lost and never found. I've never met someone who was that overprotective before. Something must have happened. The grandmother is like this too, so even Winnie's mother could have been lost and both the mother and the grandmother remember that. It also says that the grandmother has heard the "elf tune" once before. i wonder if that is incorporated later in the story!?

  4. I don't think the family knew a secret. But I do think that they think they know something like the elves are the people and they've seen them a long time ago.

  5. I do think that the family knows a secret. I also think the grandmother and the mother are so over protective because they here many bad rumors about the woods behind them. They also could of had a bad back round with the stranger where he tried to kid nap the mother when she was young, and they think that he's trying to do the same with Winnie.

  6. I think Winnie's parents are so overprotective because they don't want her to get lost in the woods and they love her very much. They built a four-foot tall fence to keep out strangers and keep Winnie close to the house. The grandmother may be hiding a secret about the elf song in the woods because she mentioned that she heard the same tune when she was younger. The stranger that spoke to Winnie was suspicious of the family and may want to kidnap her later in the story.

  8. I think Winnie's mother and grand mother are overprotective is because Winnie is the only child in the family. When Winnie is talking to the stranger her grandmother seems to overreact since the grandmother is overprotective

  9. I agree with Phoenix and THE BEAST also. I think that Winnie's mom is so over protective because she is their only child, and thay dont want her to get hurt. maybe the mom was an only child and her mom was underprotective, and something happened that made her protective over her only child.

  10. I think that Winnie's mother is so overprotective because the woods although small are scary and not a very good place for children. Winnie is also the only child and her mom doesn't want anything to happen to her.

  11. I think the granny saw a glimpse of one of the Tucks drinking from the spring on the ground so she thought that only elves drank from the ground. She saw Mae squat down and thought she was an elf.
