Why is it Morris' greatest ambition to become a comic strip artist?

  1. I think Morris's greatest ambition is to become a comic strip artist because he is good at coming up with new strips. It says in the begining that he makes one without a reason and then his friend tells him to give it to Boy Magazine.Page 28

  2. I think that he wants to be a comic strip artist because he is creative and he enjoys reading comics. I can make a text to self conection because one of my friends used to want to be a comic strip artist also. However he has now grown out of it.

  3. I think Morris wants to be a comic strip artist because he doesnt want to be a dreamer. He thinks everyone elses goals are just fantasies. He thinks he has a realistic goal but in the end he also becomes a dreamer.

  4. I think Morris wants to be a comic strip artist because he reads a lot of comics and idols the people who write them. I think he wants to be something that is not a major job because he doesn't want to be a 13 year old dreamer like he thinks every one else is (page 27).

  5. I think that being a comic strip artist would be a major job, JF2. Imagine the pressure to come up with something fun, creative, producing both the art work and the dialogue and meeting strict deadlines - a lot of pressure for a 13 year old boy!

  6. Do you think he may have wanted this job because it allowed him to escape the realities of his life and fantasize about the way he wished things could be while still doing something he loved?

  7. I think Morris wants to become a comic strip artist because he loves to read comics and enjoys writing them. He doesn't want to be a 13 year-old dreaming of fantasies like his other classmates. Morris would rather have a minor and exciting job. I think it would be stressful to complete a comic in a short period of time like Ms. Adams said also. In the end, Morris becomes a dreamer just like his fellow classmates.

  8. I think morris wants to become a comic strip artist because he loves to write comic strips, and he thinks it is acheivable, unlike some of the other people in his class that just dream abou things that are not acheivable.i connect with what the beast said when he said he can make a text to self connection. some of my friends also were into making comics and planned on righting a series, but never acualy acheived that goal

  10. I think Morris wants to be a comic strip artist because, as said on pg.36, Morris liked how comics have their own little fantasy, how they create their OWN setting and are fictional. Also noted on pg.36, he dislikes comics that could really happen in real life, realistic fiction. An example of this is Ned Kelly, a comic that he didn't like for that reason. It is no surprise to me that he grew up an author of this story, which, peculiarly, is non- fiction!

  11. Oh, and no, I do not think pressures are reasons to give up because you can someday reach your goals and defeat that pressure.

  12. Goofball.......
It amazes me that you picked upon the author's name. Do you really think this was his experience or did he just choose his name for the familiarity? Personal narrative, realistic fiction or non fiction?

    Ah........we don't know!!!!!

  13. Perhaps he just never realized his true dream........

  14. Yes, but it is still no surprise that he wrote this . . . . story?

  15. Why, thank you, but the non- fiction question I still wonder about. We should talk about that in a discussion tomorrow. I wonder what the other kids will say????? :| :)
